Dr Thomas Kaiser has made an invaluable contribution to the success of the Family Medical Centres. His mission has always been preventive medicine. As a keen sportsman, semi-professional tennis player for 1. FC Nuremberg and tennis coach qualified at the University of Munich he puts great emphasis on the value of exercise, physical and mental welbeing and nutrition.
Training in Germany, England, the US and Switzerland, he qualified in 1990 at the University of Erlangen. In 1991 he successfully sat the US board exam for foreign medical graduates (FMGEMS) and then completed his PhD thesis at the Surgical University Hospital in Erlangen. After his specialist training in Family Medicine in Germany and England he became partner in a well-established practice in Reigate, Surrey. By 2000, he was looking for a new challenge in sunnier climes. Meeting with Dr. Thomson of the Family Medical Centres, was a perfect opportunity to put his skills into practice, in an enviable location.
In the Algarve he pioneered a health and wellness week with UK nutrition icon Rosemary Conley. In 2009 he was invited to become Director of the Casualty Department of the newly opened Hospital Particular do Algarve in Faro.
